About the author

Once upon a time, I was an English professor. Once upon a time I was a non-profit staff writer. Once upon a time I worked in a winery, and in a bakery. Once upon a time I was a computer systems administrator. Once upon a time I decided to become an attorney.

A single semester of law school put an end to that fairytale. It took me months to recover the lost sleep, and I’ll never look at the law the same way again.

Coming full circle…or maybe it’s more of an elipse…I’ve decided to go back to teaching, this time at the high school level. We’ll see where that goal leads me.

While pursuing what can best be described as a wildly varied career path, I’ve raised four children and watched as life got more complicated, options changed, and choices narrowed. I found myself wondering though, if this perhaps is what life is really all about: Not a destination to be reached as soon as possible, but rather a continual journey.

In between skill sets and swing sets I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what really matters in life. Who should be our next president? Should polenta be stirred clockwise or counterclockwise? Is global warming junk science? Is popcorn really junk food? Do Catholics have a spiritual advantage over Protestants? Is leftover prosecco any good?

Random thoughts perhaps; you decide.
